Provide support in the benefit/wellness unit of the Department of Human Resources.  

Assist in the planning, development, facilitation, coordination and communication of programs and resources which improve the health and well-being of Miami University faculty and staff and their family members. Meet with departments to increase visibility of and participation in wellness program resources. Provide assistance with the development, implementation and evaluation of university-wide wellness initiatives. This includes conducting research and writing management proposals.



  • Assist in maintaining, developing and implementing programming and incentives which drive participation and reward health improvement and encourage the adoption and maintenance of healthy behaviors.
  • Assist in the measurement and reporting of Healthy Miami impact and effectiveness.
  • Assist in developing strategic action plans based on data to improve participation and outcomes.
  • Assist in coordinating, scheduling and developing fitness programming this includes group fitness sessions, and fitness rooms.
  • Recommend changes to and assist with maintenance of websites and Healthy Miami online portal.
  • Work with university departments to assess and determine educational needs and assist with selection of subject matter experts.
  • Assist in establishing productive working relationships with internal units and external groups, agencies and facilitators
  • Create and facilitate workshops and wellness specific educational modules.
  • Assist in developing and responsible for maintaining reporting database
  • Develop and manage project and event budgets as appropriate
  • Aid in sourcing, evaluation of programming from outside facilitators for effectiveness
  • Assist with training, supervising and evaluation of student interns
  • Maintain flexible work schedule for early morning and evening hours
  • Work on HR initiatives or special projects as requested

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and at least three years of experience in Health Promotion, Wellness, Public Health, Kinesiology, Nutrition, Human Resources or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to analyze data and provide recommendations. Experience with Microsoft Office products, and at a minimum intermediate excel skills (pivot tables, formula functions etc.)

Preferred Qualifications

Masters degree in a related field. CHES, ACSM, PHR certification or equivalent. ALA “Freedom from Smoking” certification, Health Coaching certification, Group Fitness Certification, and/or Personal Training Certification.
