Lasell College is currently seeking a Controller to join the Finance and Administration team. Under the general supervision of the Associate Vice President of Finance and Administration, the Controller will provide oversight and leadership for departments providing financial reporting, budgeting, accounts payable, and accounts receivable services for the College. This position will also oversee the Director of Financial Reporting and the Director of Budget.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provides strategic direction for daily operations of the following functions: general accounting, budgeting/forecasting and financial reporting, purchasing/contracting, and cash flow projections.
Provides leadership and direction in the coordination and development of budgeting procedures for collecting and analyzing the annual operating and capital budgets, and the creation of related reports and analyses.
Ensures Business Office staff are knowledgeable of and act in compliance with College policies and procedures, and state and federal regulations.
Develop financial reporting processes for all financial aspects of the College including business travel and expenses, fundraising activities, grants and contracts, and related matters.
Develops/revises, implements and communicates business policies and operating procedures for financial management activities of the College.
Serves as a key decision maker and liaison with other College departments in matters pertaining to financial management functions. Ensures resources are available to respond appropriately to sensitive questions related to policy and procedures. Acts as financial liaison and audit service for payroll, which is housed in Human Resources.
Ensures operational effectiveness and compliance. Collaborates with Human Resources Director on matters relating to process, policy and compliance.
Ensures appropriate resources and supervises College support for the annual audit; Prepares responses to auditor questions, and develops policies and procedures to address audit-related issues.
Serves on various committees within the College and external organizations. May be required to attend meetings or events on behalf of the Associate Vice President and assists the AVP with various special projects, including those directed by the Vice President
MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
Bachelor degree in accounting, finance, business administration or related required. Master's degree in business preferred.
Minimum of seven (7) years of directly related financial management experience required.
Minimum of three (3) years supervisory experience required; experience managing other business/financial operations departments helpful.
Experience in higher education finance and management preferred
