 Synopsis of Role:

The Chief Operating Officer - Hondros NES provides general management and oversight to assigned campuses. The position’s direct reports include campus directors, corporate directors of admissions, and financial aid department. These reports are accountable for meeting or exceeding the institution's annual financial and operational plan in a manner consistent with the corporation's mission, values, high performance principles, and strategic choices. The position is also responsible for leadership in the departments of admissions, career services, finance and business operations (including Human Resources, Information Technology, etc.). This role also has a functional reporting relationship to the chief executive officer (CEO) and plays an important role in the implementation of company-wide initiatives.

 Essential Functions: 

  • Serves as a member of the Executive Team; provides guidance to campuses; and implements the strategic business plan.
  • Provides general management and oversight to assigned campuses through the local campus directors, ensuring that established business and operational plans are met or exceeded.
  • Ensures assigned campuses are operating effectively and that best practices and key learning methods are shared across all the schools.
  • Provides regular coaching and mentoring to campus directors to grow their capabilities and skills; partners with the school directors as needed in resolving larger-scale operational problems or issues.
  • Tracks operations against operating benchmarks and plan and takes corrective measures as appropriate.
  • Ensures all campus facilities provide a safe and secure education and learning environment for both employees and students; continually assesses and makes recommendations for more efficient and effective use of space and facility resources.
  • Integrates corporate and business unit-provided services or functions including academics/education, marketing, admissions, human resources, information technology, procurement, communications, etc. with campus operations.
  • Assists with the development of company-wide initiatives and ensures that they are effectively and consistently implemented.
  • Participates in building and supporting strong local relationships between campuses and local governmental bodies or community groups.
  • Promotes an environment and culture at all assigned campuses that is consistent with the organization's mission, values, and high performance principles; participates in recruiting and building strong campus talent; and ensures a commitment exists towards the professional development of people and future leaders, including creating a strong succession plan to ensure campus leadership continuity.
  • Engages in collaboration and effective communication across all campuses and functions to drive ideas, synergies, and efficiencies that impact company-wide effectiveness and performance.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree required; Master's Degree preferred.
  • Ten plus years of experience in education leadership role; regional experience preferred.
  • Previous general management/P&L accountability responsibility
  • The successful candidate will have seven to ten years of proven team management experience, spanning multiple locations.
