The primary responsibility of the position is to provide support and education to enhance students’ learning experience at Washington State University, including but not limited to: advise and counsel students regarding academic plans and degree requirements, participate in the VCEA’s student activities as appropriate, participate in academic reinstatement activities, participate in program development for academic advising in the VCEA, and provide information and clarification regarding university and VCEA academic policies and processes.
Bachelor’s degree and two (2) years of academic advising experience or related education/experience. A Master’s degree in a related field may substitute for one (1) year of professional work experience. Any combination of relevant education and professional experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year‐for‐year basis.
Experience with science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) disciplines. Demonstrated ability to work with students, faculty, advisors, and administrators. Experience with large and small group presentations. Knowledge of, and experience with, academic advising and related issues. Knowledge of university computing systems such as the Zzusis Advising Module, ROnet, and ROOMS.
