Detailed Job Description

This position is responsible for monitoring and overseeing the academic progress of assigned, at-risk student-athletes in accordance with NCAA, Conference and University requirements. Responsible for enhancing the academic success and retention of UVU’s student-athletes.

Minimum Qualifications

Graduation from an accredited institution with a bachelor’s degree plus two years of experience related to Summary of Duties totaling six years.

Preferred Qualifications

Two years of experience administering NCAA rules and guidelines at Division I athletics programs is preferred.
Master’s degree is preferred.

Knowledge

Knowledge of student development, advisement and instructional methods and techniques.

Knowledge of UVU course schedules, curriculum and degree requirements.

Knowledge of NCAA DI rules relating to intercollegiate athletic programs, academic advisement and student-athlete academic eligibility.

Knowledge of drug education and student-athlete wellness.

Skills

Effective communication skills for various constituencies, including student-athletes, athletics staff, faculty, coaches and others.

Independent problem-solving skills, including prioritization, creativity and multi-tasking, even in high-stress situations.

Proficient in use of computers and computer programs, including Microsoft Office, JumpForward, Banner, CAi and LSDBi.

Abilities

Ability to assist student-athletes in developing effective academic plans and career and life goals.

Ability to anticipate both department and student needs.

Ability to work in a team environment to serve individuals with diverse personalities.

Ability to manage student records accurately and maintain strict confidentiality of those records.

Ability to maintain high levels of professionalism, even in high-stress situations.
Ability to represent the Department in various public functions pertaining to athletics.

Pay Range

$31,554 to $42,072 annually
