Detailed Job Description

Under general direction, identifies staffing needs and develops recruitment strategies in compliance with University policy and employment law; recruits, interviews, checks references, makes job offers, and oversees the onboarding of new employees.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in area of specialty and 0-2 years of experience in the field or in a related area

Job Duties and Responsibilities

Implements the overall staff recruitment strategy for the University; identifies and forecasts staffing needs with human resources consultants; develops and advises hiring managers on recruitment strategies and processes designed to reduce turnover and enhance diversity.

Sources applicants; reviews, evaluates and interviews internal/external candidates in the applicant pool; administers employment testing; refers most qualified job applicants to hiring managers; provides managers/supervisors with hiring recommendations.

Coordinates hiring and on-boarding process; conducts employment reference checks; negotiates salary offers; oversees confirmation letters and the scheduling of orientation programs.

Follows employee through the first six months of employment to encourage retention and to ensure that performance expectations are being achieved.

Participates in recruitment activities such as job fairs and community outreach programs; develops diversity recruitment strategies with human resource consultants and the office of diversity and affirmative action.
