Under general direction, defines needs, solves problems, formulates strategies, and implements solutions for computer hardware and software serves as liaison for ITS regarding communication and electronic services;, workstations, computers, and printers; provides staff training for software, manages lab and student consultants; installs, evaluates, and trouble shoots software packages; provides assistance for installation, maintenance, and modification of computer stand alone system, and LAN systems. Coordinates the level 2 and 3 classroom use and operations.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelors degree in computer science or related area; supplemented with two (2) years related work experience. Masters Degree preferred in Computer Science, MIS or business.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

Works with department chairpersons, program directors, faculty, and staff to define, implement solutions, and formulate strategies for computing needs, in an instructional and research setting. Coordinates these needs with ITS via the Academic IT Services section.

Investigates application hardware/software needs based on academic computer plans; evaluates new/upgrade resource requirements; installs/trouble-shoots software packages.

Provides technical assistance for installation, maintenance, and modification of IBM, Macintosh stand-alone system, and LAN systems.

Hires and supervises student computer labs.

Performs other duties as assigned.
