Detailed Job Description

This position primarily serves as the academic coordinator for the Faculty Senate, which is the faculty governance board
at Bentley University. Secondarily, the position supports the activities of two faculty-led councils: the Research Council and the Teaching Council.

Senate Academic Coordinator: Provides administrative support to the Chair of the Faculty Senate and Senate Planning Committee. Schedules, coordinates and attends all Faculty Senate and General Faculty meetings. May handle the arrangements for meetings of some Faculty committees (in particular, the Curriculum Implementation Committee). Responsible for the preparation, processing and storage of all Senate agendas, minutes and documents. Also responsible for the official minutes of General Faculty meetings. Additionally, oversees the production of an audio-recording for all Senate and General Faculty meetings.

Maintains both the Faculty Senate and Curriculum Committee databases on the Senate Blackboard site for informational and archival purposes.

Research Council: Provides administrative support to the Chair and Coordinator of the Research Council as needed. Handles arrangements (such as coordinating posters, making name tags, and keeping track of RSVP's) and reservations for the Annual Research Showcase in September and the Annual Research Colloquium held in the fall.

Teaching Council: Provides administrative support to the Chair of the Teaching Council as needed. May help to design and maintain the Teaching Council website.

Arranging meetings for the Faculty Senate and General Faculty. Arranging meetings for other Senate Committees as needed.  

Additional Description of Duties:

Handling arrangements for the major events held by the Research and Teaching Council.

Organizing and maintaining the Senate Blackboard site to insure that it is up to date and contains all relevant documents. Also, maintaining all documents, including agendas, proposals, minutes, committee lists, etc., that are presented to and voted on by Faculty Senate and the General Faculty, on the Faculty Senate Blackboard site.

Working with the Chair of the Faculty Senate to ensure that Faculty Senators receive vital documents, in a timely manner for the purpose of discussing and/or voting on at their next scheduled meeting.

As requested, working with the Chair of the Curriculum
Committee to ensure that committee members receive vital curricular documents Also, maintaining all documents, including agendas, proposals, minutes, etc., relative to the Curriculum Committee in the Curriculum Committee area of the Senate Blackboard site.

Serving as Central Coordinator and Archivist of all documents pertaining to the faculty governance of Bentley University.  

Position Qualifications

Associate's Degree preferably in a Business-related field and five years of general business experience. Experience at Bentley University is helpful, but not required.
