Detailed Job Description
The Administrative Assistant I/II, School of Science and Technology, is responsible for providing administrative and office support to the Dean through the day-to-day management of personnel, budgets, equipment and established policies related to the School's office. The Administrative Assistant initiates school purchases and professional travel arrangements through requisitions and procurement, maintains the integrity and security of personnel files and oversees Science and Technology staff meetings
Associate of Arts degree or higher required, in Business Office Management or related field preferred.
Minimum of five years of progressively responsible administrative experience including daily operations of budget management required
Accurate keyboarding skills required.
Advanced knowledge and expert proficiency with computer applications to include MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) or a similar software management application required.
Experience in a post-secondary institution preferred
Knowledge of supervisory skills and experience preferred.
Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills, including confidentiality, composition, editing, grammar, punctuation and proofreading skills and excellence in providing customer service
Knowledge of the Datatel system
Demonstrated strong organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize tasks required.
Effectiveness in working as a team member required.
Ability to work independently, in a fast paced environment, with attention to accuracy, details and deadlines required.
Proficiency in accounting principles and procedures and budget management experience preferred.
Ability to deal tactfully and effectively with students, faculty, administrators, governmental agencies, business/industry representatives, community organizations and the general public required.
