Newport News Office

Provide leadership and coordination in support the University’s mission and core values as a contributing member of the University’s Community.

This role is primarily to assist the Center Director as needed with the progression of the Center mission.

This includes the following:

  • Training for staff and faculty support for the operations processes
  • hiring and termination decisions as well as class scheduling, student retention and recruitment.

Basic Function:

  • Demonstrate proactive tendencies sharing and drawing upon best practices.
  • Contribute constructively to process refinement.
  • Assist the Director with overall management of the department.
  • Will fulfill the duties as prescribed by the Director in his/her absence.

Required Education/Experience/Skills:

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Proven ability to work with both traditional and non-traditional students with diverse backgrounds and needs.
  • Proven ability to establish rapport with students, faculty, alumni, employers and staff colleagues.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university.
