Detailed Job Description



This 12-month position will have primary responsibility for managing the video and multimedia needs for Saint Leo Athletic Communications, including webcasts, video content for Saint Leo’s athletic website, and video for video display boards at three athletic venues.

Basic Function:

  • Support the University’s mission and core values as a contributing member of the University’s community.
  • Plan, develop and implement goals and objectives for Saint Leo Athletics Communications as they relates to video and multimedia applications, particularly as it pertains to live and on-demand video content.
  • Coordinate game day webcast operations, including hiring student staff, managing and maintaining video equipment, producing in-game graphics and feature content.
  • Produce video content for, Saint Leo’s athletics website, in collaboration with other members of Athletics Communications staff and coaches.
  • Produce video content for video display boards in Marion Bowman Activities Center (men’s and women’s basketball and volleyball), University Turf Stadium (men’s and women’s lacrosse), and Southard Stadium (baseball).
  • Assist in the planning, promotion and organization of departmental special events using video and multimedia technology.
  • Identify creative avenues and new technologies to use to enhance the Saint Leo University athletics brand, university core values and NCAA Division II philosophy across campus and to the surrounding community.
  • Other duties as assigned by Athletic Director, Assistant Athletic Director for Communications, and/or the Director of Athletic Communications.

Required Education/Experience/Skills:

  • Minimum of two (2) years of related experience in collegiate athletic communications field working directly with video applications.
  • Working knowledge of computer applications and software including Adobe Creative Suite/Illustrator/InDesign/Photoshop programs, and Microsoft Office.
  • Working knowledge of non-linear video editing software such as Final Cut Pro or Adobe Premiere (Adobe Premiere is preferred).
  • Working knowledge of Wirecast and Newtek TriCaster video broadcast technology, and live video streaming systems (Stretch Internet preferred).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with ability to communicate with athletic department, University, community and media outlets
  • Ability to work under deadline pressure and collaboratively with internal and external constituencies
  • Team oriented and willing to multitask efficiently and effectively
  • Willing to work weekends, evenings and travel

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of related experience in communications field (NCAA athletics preferred)
  • Excellent communication and writing skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with website content management systems, specifically PrestoSports.
  • Developed knowledge of mainstream social media sites and social media mobile applications
  • Working knowledge of NCAA DII rules and regulations preferred.
  • Technical knowledge of Microsoft Windows and Apple OSX operating systems
