Detailed Job Description

The Modern Languages Department at Bentley University seeks to fill a Lecturer position starting in Fall 2016.

With a strong faculty of teacher-scholars, Bentley strives to lead higher education in the integration of global business with the arts and sciences, information technology, and corporate ethics and social responsibility. Located a few miles from Boston, Bentley provides an intellectually stimulating academic community for both faculty and students. Bentley supports its faculty as they bring their expertise and real world experience into the classroom.

The typical teaching load is 4 courses per semester and enrollment in all classes is capped at 22 students.

The lecturer will coordinate the elementary Spanish program, mentor students enrolled in Liberal Studies major (Global Perspectives) and advise Spanish Studies Majors.  

Additional Description of Duties:

We are seeking a colleague that will collaborate with other Spanish faculty on Curriculum development and textbook evaluations and who will represent the department at all-campus events (Major/minor Fair), Open houses for perspective and accepted students.

Position Qualifications

PhD in Spanish language and literature is preferred, but not required. Solid teaching experience at the university level (minimum 3 years).

Depending on the needs of the department, the ideal candidate should be able to teach all levels of Spanish (elementary, intermediate, and advanced).

Ideal candidate would have some experience in Translation studies and teaching, with an interest in developing a new translation program.
