The Counselor is responsible for providing counseling for WSU Spokane students.
Doctorate in Counseling or Clinical Psychology including completion of doctoral internship.
Eligibility for licensure as a Psychologist in Washington State within one year.
Counseling/clinical experience with a university population.
Experience and interest in providing service to diverse student populations (e.g. students of color, LGBT students, international students, and veterans.
Experience working with “high risk” difficulties (e.g. suicide, eating disorders, substance abuse, PTSD).
APA-approved doctoral program and/or APA-accredited doctoral internship.
Experience and interest in men’s issues and/or treatment of sexual assault.
Experience in providing clinical supervision and training to graduate students.
Experience administering psychological testing.
Provides culturally sensitive individual, group, and couples counseling over a broad range of difficulties and diagnoses, including:
•Psychological, social, or other difficulties that interfere with students’ academic success;
•Crisis intervention management, including after hours on-call coverage for the student population;
•Risk assessment and mental status evaluation.
Provides training and supervision in an APA-approved training program, including:
•Clinical supervision of doctoral interns and doctoral practicum students;
•Possible training-related activities for doctoral practicum and doctoral internship.
Provides consultation and outreach activities to the university community.
Participates in Student Affairs activities by providing administrative leadership for program areas within Counseling Services that may include alcohol awareness, sexual assault prevention, Student Care Team, etc. May serve on university committees.
Other responsibilities as assigned by the Director.
