The Washington State University (WSU) Department of Veterinary Clinical Sciences (VCS) seeks to fill a tenure-track, full-time, 12-month position within the Equine Surgery section of its Veterinary Teaching Hospital. The position is offered at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor rank, depending upon qualifications and is available as soon as a suitable candidate is identified. The position will join a team whose primary mission is clinical teaching, clinical service and scholarship.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Perform general and advanced lameness diagnosis and orthopedic and soft-tissue surgery including minimally invasive surgery; teach professional veterinary students, interns, residents and graduate students in clinical, laboratory, and didactic (classroom) setting on topics of equine lameness and orthopedic and soft tissue surgery; provide health care and service to patients of the Veterinary Teaching Hospital; advise and consult with referring veterinarians and clients; develop a creative, independent/collaborative, basic and/or clinically-oriented research program in Equine Surgery; and provide guidance and consultation for research projects of residents and graduate students.
The candidates must possess a DVM or equivalent degree (such as BVSc), have completed an approved ACVS residency and is board-eligible before date of hire. Candidate must be able to effectively communicate, work collegially, and collaborate with diverse internal and external constituencies.
Preferred qualifications include board certification in ACVS, an advanced degree (Masters or PhD) in veterinary medicine or closely related field, a record of research or scholarly productivity, and evidence of expertise in teaching in a clinical and/or didactic setting.
