Detailed Job Description

The successful candidate is expected to perform experimental research in the area of ultracold quantum gases. Current research directions in the Engels group include experiments with artificial gauge fields and spin-orbit coupling, experiments in the field of single- and multicomponent quantum hydrodynamics, as well as experiments to be performed with NASA’s CAL (Cold Atom Lab) apparatus, a BEC setup to be installed onboard the ISS. Research will primarily be performed at WSU in Pullman, WA, but may also involve short- or medium term stays at JPL, Pasadena, CA.

Required Qualifications

Candidates are expected to have a PhD in Physics with an excellent research track record. Although previous experience with ultracold atomic physics experiments is strongly preferred, PhDs from other areas with strong experimental skills will also be considered.
