This position is in a research laboratory working in molecular virology and mucosal immunology. The person in this position will perform experimental research directly relevant to the overall programmatic goals of the lab. Specific duties include, but are not limited to, performing modern molecular and immunological assays, establishment of new or modification of existing assays, working in small animal models (rodents), data analysis and experimental design in consultation with the PI; assisting others in the laboratory as needed, general laboratory maintenance, and recording data in laboratory notebooks. Basic understanding of relevant literature, participation in weekly lab meetings is required.
A Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate related scientific or engineering discipline and three (3) years of progressively responsible related professional research experience. Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis. A Master’s degree in an appropriate related scientific or engineering discipline may be substituted for up to one year of the required work experience.
Familiarity with nucleic acid processing for large dataset acquisition and familiarity with software for sequence analysis.
Familiarity with immune cell isolation and gene expression analyses from tissues.
