The School of Mechanical and Materials Engineering (MME) in collaboration with the Composites Materials and Engineering Center (CMEC) at Washington State University invites applications for a senior full-time tenure-track or tenured faculty position at the Associate or Full Professor level in the area of composite materials. The successful candidate will have demonstrated excellence and recognition in scholarship, education, and professional service in the field of composite materials with expertise from engineering to polymers for building fundamental, applied, and industrially focused research on synthetic and bio-based composite materials and sustainable manufacturing processes and design; ability to seek and acquire external funds for scholarly research; commitment to undergraduate and graduate teaching; excellent communication and interpersonal skills; commitment to building diversity in the department; and potential to develop collaborative research with MME and CMEC faculty.
The school welcomes strong candidates who can complement and collaborate with existing research programs in the School and College, and industries in Washington, including aerospace, advanced manufacturing and materials, bio-based products and co-products from other technologies such as renewable energy, and sustainable design.
Earned doctoral degree in mechanical or materials engineering or a closely related field prior to the start of the appointment.
Evidence of excellent and recognized scholarship, education, and professional service in the field of composite materials.
Demonstrated potential in seeking and acquiring funds for scholarly research.
Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Commitment to collaborate with diverse internal and external groups.
