As a member of a cross-cultural team, the Assistant Director for the Chicana/o Latina/o Student Center is responsible for assisting the Office of Multicultural Student Services in carrying out its mission of facilitating “…the best undergraduate experience for multicultural students through the provision of culturally relevant services that foster their successful transition, persistence, achievement, and graduation” from Washington State University. While balancing the academic, cultural and social support for the students, the general responsibilities of this position include academic advising and coaching, mentoring, personal guidance and advocacy, serving as a consultant to student leaders and student organizations, and collaborating with a wide variety of university offices and personnel to provide students with comprehensive services to engage them in the pursuit of academic excellence.
Bachelor’s degree and four (4) years of professional work experience in student services or related education/experience. One (1) or more years of experience leading or directing the work of others. A Master’s degree in a related field may substitute for one (1) year of professional work experience. Any combination of relevant education and professional experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year‐for‐year basis.
- Advanced degree in higher education or related field.
-Bilingual skills (English and Spanish)
-Demonstrated supervisory skills; experience facilitating professional development, training, supervision, and evaluation of personnel.
-Five years of professional experience.
