This position provides oversight and leadership, curriculum development, publications, and other duties essential to the implementation for the 4-H Youth Development program in Ferry County with focus on the Horticultural disciplines. Under the direction of the Regional Specialist, this position will also assist area production and commodity groups with meetings, trainings, and general information. The majority of the county land is in agricultural production, including livestock and pastureland for limited grain crops.
A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant extension program discipline and two (2) years of related program experience. Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.
Educational background in Animal or Horticultural Sciences.
Experience in extension or other youth development related program.
Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced and creative environment emphasizing youth and adult development.
Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as in a team setting.
Demonstrated ability to communicate using oral and written skills.
Demonstrated ability to relate to and collaborate with a wide range of people from varied social and economic levels, ages, races, ethnic backgrounds as well as in rural, suburban, and urban settings.
Demonstrated competency in electronic communication methods and software for daily work activities including programs in the Microsoft Office Suite.
Extended teaching experience in informal or formal (i.e., school) settings.
