The Department of Biomedical Engineering at UC Davis invites applications for an Assistant Professor level position with emphasis on mechanistic modeling of biological systems. The BME Department has 31 faculty members and is ranked 7th in the nation in annual research expenditures (NSF rankings). The Department has existing strengths in the areas of tissue engineering, cellular and molecular engineering, biomechanics, biomedical imaging, micro/nano systems, therapeutics, and computational/ systems biology.
A research emphasis on mechanistic modeling of biological systems at scales from the nano to the cellular is preferred along with the ability to contribute to and benefit from existing research strengths within BME (e.g., in quantitative biology tools, tissue engineering, stem cell biology, nanotechnology/ nanotherapeutic drug delivery, degenerative diseases, and imaging/ optics) and within the larger quantitative biology community at UC Davis.
