The Department of Communication at The College of Wooster seeks to fill a tenure-track position beginning in the fall 2016 at the Assistant professor level, specializing in issues of diversity within political and/or organizational contexts. We seek a scholar-teacher whose research and teaching interests can complement and enhance current offerings in interpersonal/organizational, argumentation/rhetorical, and/or media studies of communication. Teaching responsibilities will include teaching Introduction to Communication Studies, Public Speaking, Theories of Human Communication, and periodically teaching in the College’s First-Year Seminar program and the writing intensive courses within the department. Other teaching opportunities include Small Group/Organizational Communication, Argumentation and Persuasion, Intercultural Communication, Rhetorical Criticism, and Mediated Gender, Race, and Sexuality. Responsibilities also include advising junior and senior thesis projects in the College’s nationally-recognized Independent Study research program. Being open to advising theses on student-generated topics through quantitative or qualitative methods is essential. We seek a collegial individual with a passion for teaching who also has a commitment to his/her research trajectory and can work collaboratively with others. Ph.D. Required (ABD considered).
