Job Description:

A rewarding opportunity exists for the right individual to bring their proven track record of team-building, leadership, teaching and vision to join Bunker Hill Community College as the next Dean of Nurse Education and Medical Imaging. The collegial leader will work with a dedicated and experienced group of faculty and staff and is responsible for the administration and leadership of the entire comprehensive division, which includes Associate Degree programs in Registered Nursing, Cardiac Sonography, General Sonography and Medical Radiography and certificate programs in Practical Nursing, Computed Tomography, Imaging Informatics, Magnetic Resonance, and Mammography. Bunker Hill Community College is the largest community college in Massachusetts and ranked among the 25 fastest growing public two-year colleges in the United States. BHCC is part of the Massachusetts public higher education system.

The ideal candidate understands and balances the needs of both faculty and students. Experience with first generation students is critical. The Dean possesses strong leadership ability, excellent management skills, an effective interpersonal and communication style, collaborative and creative energy and a passion to further the College's mission of career-relevant professional preparation through existing and new programs. Successful candidates must demonstrate evidence of their achievements in these areas. Familiarity with a unionized institution is helpful.

This position reports directly to the Associate Provost.
     
Responsibilities:
 

  • Faculty recruitment, evaluation, and development
  • New program and curriculum development
  • Program assessment
  • Overseeing establishment and maintenance of articulation and clinical affiliation agreements by the Clinical Coordinator
  • Budget development
  • Compliance with requirements of accreditation bodies and agencies and maintenance of appropriate standards of admission for all programs in the Division

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:
 

  • Master's degree in a health-related discipline
  • Successful academic administrative experience in higher education as a chair or above or equivalent experience in health care
  • Experience working in a health care organization with strong clinical affiliation
  • Knowledge of program accreditation requirements
  • Proven ability to work effectively with a diverse faculty, staff, and student population
  • Experience and commitment to working with first generation students
  • Successful college-level teaching experience
  • Experience in the recruitment, evaluation, professional development and supervision of faculty and/or staff
  • Demonstrated ability to provide creative and innovative leadership
  • Demonstrated capacity to foster and manage change in a fast-paced environment

Preferred Qualifications:
 

  • Master's degree in nursing and/or doctorate
  • Experience with curriculum development, assessment and/or strategic planning
  • Proven ability to promote and foster a Learning Community philosophy of teaching
  • Demonstrated ability to promote the expanded application of technology to teach
  • Demonstrated commitment to programs leading to student success and completion
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to promote collaboration among departments
  • Experience in developing and managing budgets effectively
  • Demonstrated commitment to the mission of a community college and student-centered learning environment
  • Experience working in a collective bargaining environment
  • Ability to navigate the Massachusetts Board of Nursing
