Detailed Job Description

The Human Resources Office at Mt. Hood Community College is accepting applications for a full-time Classification/Compensation Analyst. Under limited supervision, the Classification and Compensation Analyst plays a key role in the development and administration of the college's classification and compensation systems. Provides guidance to management and staff and prepares recommendations on a variety of classification and compensation issues, including legal compliance, interpretation and application of college policies and regulations, HR procedures, labor agreements, and employee handbooks. Works independently and in a team environment to support the vision, mission and goals of the college.

The minimum qualifications for this position are:

  • Bachelor's degree in human resource management, business administration, public administration or related field

  • Four years of classification/compensation experience

  • Successful experience working with a diverse/multicultural population

KSA requirements:
  • Ability to understand, interpret and apply policies, rules and regulations

  • Ability to exercise independent judgment and initiative on assignments that are sensitive in nature

  • Strong project management, process management, analytical and consulting skills

  • Advanced working skills of word processing, spreadsheets, and e-mail and intermediate working skills of databases within the Microsoft Office Suite

  • Excellent verbal, interpersonal and written communication skills, including skill in preparing written reports and business correspondence; facilitation and training skills; and skilled ability to navigate difficult conversations and resolve conflict

  • Detail-oriented with the ability to be flexible, manage multiple tasks and shifting priorities, work under pressure and meet deadlines

  • Ability to tolerate and work through ambiguity

  • Ability to work independently, be self-directed and work as a member of a team

  • High degree of tact and diplomacy when interacting with college employees, students and community members
