Responsible for providing support for all aspects of Telecommunications. Troubleshoots, upgrades hardware, configures network connectivity, maintains phones and/or other peripherals, and generally, helps resolve other telecom use issues. Serves as a technical resource to answer questions, identify technical needs, research solutions, and make recommendations. Utilizes help desk tracking and analytical system to document and trace service requests. Documents procedures, tip sheets, training manuals, and job aids to provide efficient communication of help desk area information.
Graduation from a standard senior high school or equivalent and one year of any combination of computer related education and/or technical support and customer service experience related to the Summary of Duties.
Certification in Siemon structured cabling systems.
Familiar with Alcatel-Lucent PBX.
Knowledge of telecommunications standards.
Knowledge of structured cabling standards.
Skills with telecom tools included but not limited to: Butt Sets, Toner/Sniffer, OTDR, Cable Certifier, and termination tools.
Ability to stand for several hours.
Comfortable working on ladders at heights of up to 15 ft.
Ability to carry 50 lbs for long distances.
Ability to work in tight spaces.
Ability to recognize differences in colors.
