Under the supervision of the Archivist and Digitization Librarian, the part-time Library Assistant – Digitization’s primary job responsibilities include: scanning images of text materials, slides, photographs, newspapers, and three-dimensional objects to a standard which meets requirements for archival best practices and for inclusion in the Mountain West Digital Library; restoring, merging, color correcting and digitally editing photographs in Adobe Photoshop; scanning Archive’s materials to fulfill patron requests when needed; and, photographing fragile or three-dimensional historical items using a Canon SLR camera.
Graduation from an accredited institution with an associate’s degree in a related field of study OR a combination of education and experience related to the Summary of Duties totaling 2 years.
Digital audio and video production and editing experience.
Experience with Adobe Creative Suite or other video editing software.
Successful candidate will possess or complete a Bachelor’s degree in Digital Media or a related degree by Spring 2016.
Knowledge of scanning and digital photography.
Skills and experience using the Epson Expression 1000XL scanner or similar.
Skills and experience using the Fujitsu fi-5750C ADF scanner or similar.
Skills and experience with Microsoft Office software.
Skills and experience with Photoshop or other image editing software.
Skills and experience handling rare or fragile items.
Strong abilities in file organization and management.
Ability to multi-task, be flexible and prioritize projects according to need.
Ability to troubleshoot problems with hardware, software, and image quality;
