Description of Duties:
The Senior Systems Administrator will be responsible for maintaining the Bentley University Microsoft servers, Microsoft Exchange environment, IIS, Active Directory, and the creation and maintenance of windows server scripts. The ability to work within a VMware virtualization environment a must. This position will be integral in providing high level support to other departments for file and print, email, database and web servers.

Additional Description of Duties: The Senior Systems Administrator is responsible for installing, configuring and maintain operating systems on servers. This includes file and print, database and web servers. This position performs software installations and upgrades to systems and some layered software packages, schedules installations, performs upgrades and maintains them in accordance with established IT policies and procedures. Support of these servers include but are not limited to working in a SAN environment, performing server security audits, applying patches, installing backup and recovery software, capacity planning, performance monitoring, scripting and other associated duties.

Position Qualifications:
This position requires experience with Microsoft Windows Operating Systems 2003 and/or 2008, Microsoft Active Directory, Microsoft Outlook, PDAs, and Operating System Security. Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) certification for 2003 and/or 2008 required. A solid understanding of server virtualization concepts is required. Experience with server virtualization is desired. The ability and desire to achieve virtualization certification is required. Unix/Linux experience is desirable. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science and/or 7 - 10 years of equivalent work related experience with file/application server support. Exposure to EMC and/or NetAPP SAN environments is desirable. Experience with server monitoring applications and backup products is required. Candidate will be required to be available for 24/7 support via pager and/or cellular phone. This position requires superior communication, documentation and task management skills. The Senior System Administrator must be capable of assuming responsibilities for other system managers/analysts when necessary.
