Collaborates with course instructor(s) or theatre production director(s) to provide musical accompaniment that enhances and supports the rhythmic and qualitative characteristics of class materials and/or productions. Participates in activities that provide opportunities for students to develop to their fullest potential and achieve their learning objectives. Participates collaboratively and professionally with other faculty and staff to promote the general well-being of the department and the college, and the collective and individual interest of its staff and student body.
Graduation from an accredited institution with an associate’s degree in a closely related field plus one year of experience related to the Summary of Duties or any combination of education and/or experience related to the Summary of Duties totaling three years.
Professional level music skills and previous experience accompanying a wide range of musical styles. Graduation from an accredited institution with a Bachelor’s Degree in music performance preferred. Candidates must audition for the position and demonstrate the ability to provide musical accompaniment that supports and enhances the rhythmic and qualitative characteristics of class content.
Basic understanding of terminology used in performance classes.
Proven professional skills and previous experience accompanying a wide range of musical styles.
Ability to play a wide range of styles, improvise and provide musical accompaniment that supports and enhances the rhythmic and qualitative characteristics of class movement content and productions.
Ability to interact with students in a positive and supportive manner.
Ability to make musical adjustments to accommodate student needs and teacher instructions.
