Responsible for the day-to-day operational performance of student lab assistants within the photographic darkrooms, studios and equipment cage. Manages these three areas and advises students and student employees on proper operational processes and procedures. Ensures that goals of all areas are met and that everything is operating in a productive manner. This position is also responsible for resolving problems if and when they arise. Works with faculty to improve efficiency and productivity of these areas.
Graduation from an accredited institution with a bachelor’s degree in an area of expertise commensurate with the duties and responsibilities of the position OR a related combination of education and experience totaling four years.
Graduation from an accredited institution with a Bachelors degree in photography or a related field, OR any combination of education and experience totaling 4 years.
Knowledge of a variety of lighting systems.
Operational knowledge of a variety of camera systems (large format to digital systems).
Knowledge of chemistry safety and maintenance.
Well-developed interpersonal communication, problem-solving, decision-making and prioritization skills.
Skills in performance and productivity improvement of the labs.
Effective oral and written communication skills.
Ability to work with individuals from multiple skill levels and diverse backgrounds.
Ability to manage several diverse projects simultaneously to meet deadlines.
Ability to work in a team environment.
Ability to be self-directed and to complete tasks without supervision.
Ability to stay current in regards to photographic equipment and techniques.
