Detailed Job Description
The principal function of the Project Manager is to oversee construction/renovation projects from initial PIR to one-year inspection; to review all project information for accuracy and completeness; and to assist in other duties as assigned.
Additional Department Summary:
The principal function of this position is to oversee fire alarm, medium voltage, generator, electrical, and lighting construction/renovation projects from initial PIR to one-year final inspection, to review all project information for accuracy and completeness, and to perform other duties as assigned. Position will also assist with capital planning for the management of fire alarm, lighting, generators, electrical and infrastructure projects. Provides management services as the owners' representation for specific projects such as programming, design status and reviews, schedule oversight, financial standing and quality performance of construction team for projects as assigned. Provides support during the initial programming and design stages to maintain project scope and maintain open communications with the end user. Ensures proper project controls are in place to support a successful project outcome. Supports Facilities and requirements and supporting recurring programs such as annual paving programs, annual student residence programs, etc. Works with Internal Partners, Consultants, Architects, Engineers, General/Prime Contractors and Subcontractors and other agencies to support their efforts in achieving the goals of each project.
Required Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and 4 - 8 years of experience.
Additional Required Department Minimum Qualifications:
Must have successfully managed multiple projects. Must be able to climb stairs, ladders, and scaffolding and work at heights above thirty (30) feet on a weekly basis. Must be able to walk significant distances between and within campus buildings on a weekly basis. Valid driver's licenses. Must be at least 21 years of and have an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record as determined by the insurance carrier.
Skills and Knowledge:
Must be proficient with personal computers to include work processing, spreadsheets and e-mail systems. Must have ability to communicate effectively with others, both orally and in writing, using both technical and non-technical language. Must have skill in coordinating, managing and leading multiple individuals/groups/tasks. Must be able to understand, review and create budgets and schedules for all types/sizes of projects.
Degree in Architecture, Engineering, Building Science, Business or related field and at least four (4) years of professional experience in the construction, engineering/technical, or management field with direct experience in utility work (Electrical preferred). Based on Qualifications
